First Man in Space:
Yuri Gagarin was the first man to travel in space. His historic flight was on April 12, 1961. His spacecraft was called Vostok and later became known as Vostok 1. Vostok is a Russian word that refers to the eastern horizon where the sun rises. This postage stamp commemorates that flight 20 years later. - Natalya
